A Few Things We’re Looking For At ComplexCon 2018

0

So we went to the first annual ComplexCon a few years ago and then we unfortunately had to skip out on ComplexCon last year.  BUT, this year we’ve gotten so many incredible invites to interview amazing people and check dope installments, we had to pick up on the vibes as visionary pop culture enthusiasts gather for this third annual event. It’s going to be two days filled with incredible programming, brand experiences, and fun giveaways, so here are a few things we are def looking out for!

1800 Tequila x Nicky Diamonds x Adam Lucas

This year, 1800 has partnered with acclaimed artist Adam Lucas and streetwear designer Nicky Diamonds to create 100 exclusive, one-of-a-kind customizable denim jackets.  1800’s booth will offer specialty cocktails and a customized Nicky Diamonds-designed vintage denim jacket with patches and pins created by Adam Lucas, available exclusively at ComplexCon. I can’t wait to enjoy the atmosphere  as I soak up some tequila, should be nice.

HBO PRESENTS: ‘The Shop’ at ComplexCon

This will be an exclusive to ComplexCon attendees inspired by HBO’s newest unscripted series, “The Shop,” hosted by LeBron James and Maverick Carter. Akin to the neighborly barbershop experience, this will be a space that promotes conversations and camaraderie between attendees. HBO will be hosting an interactive experience in tune with HBO’s series “The Shop” geared towards festival attendees who wish to experience more from brands and creatives.  We expect to talk with some of the celebrity barbers as they can speak on the cornerstones of barbershop culture, the importance of the barber shop within the multicultural community, and how it all ties back to HBO’s series, “The Shop”.

FUSE’s Talent  – CIPHA SOUNDS

Ok so Cipha says he was was creator of the world’s first Hip-Hop podcast (Juan Epstein) and he’s also known for truTV’s Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks. He’s had his role on Comedy Central’s Chappelle’s Show, The HOT 97 Morning Show and more, and now he’s host of FM-Fuse Music’s brand-new series What’s Ur Thing? airing Thursdays at 11p.m..  On the show he dives deep into an artist’s obsessions, from cross-stitch to cross-fit, cosplay to calligraphy, Cipha gives new insight into an artist’s passions, and teases out that ‘thing’ that helps clear their mind, keeps them motivated, and possibly inspires their next project. Upcoming episodes will feature guests like Swizz Beatz, Diggy Simmons, Queen Naija, A$AP Ferg, among several others.

The Grinch Movie

Anyone got time for a movie? It’s two 9-hour days, I def have time.  THE GRINCH will have an interactive booth activation on the main floor along with a special screening taking place at the local Cinemark Theater across the street from the Long Beach Convention Center. If you will be in attendance at this year’s ComplexCon def look out for the activations around the film.

Puma

This iconic brand that’s working with Nipsey, Rihanna and more will be in attendance and we already know its’s going to be FIYAH FIYAH. Stay tuned to find out what unreleased heat they’re bringing to the LBC  #PUMALIFE.

New God Flow: How to Make a Rap Album in 2018
So we gotta check out this Complex conversation with some super talented speakers including Raekwon, Sickamore, Young Guru, No I.D. and Wayno. What qualifies an award winning album is highly subjective, so Complex is going to sit down with some of music’s great minds to understand what denotes an great album and what they observed about the projects they’ve worked on during it’s creation and after it’s release.
12:00pm – 1:00pm

HotOnes Live

The #1 Food and Pop Culture show on the Internet is coming at you LIVE from ComplexCon. Watch as Sean Evans grills his celebrity guest over a series of progressively spicier chicken wings. Don’t miss your chance to experience the show with hot questions and even hotter wings, up close and personal! We don’t know who he is interviewing but this will be hilarious to watch live.

Complex x Zen = Ultimate Sneaker Grails

ComplexCon is ground zero for sneaker grails this year thanks to Zen, a new e-commerce experience celebrating sneaker culture with a unique blend of commerce, storytelling, community, and events, which is launching at the fest that takes over Long Beach, CA, Nov. 3-4. Zen has amassed a collection of rare and coveted sneakers from around the world and is giving them away at ComplexCon including Nike Air Mags seen in Back to the Future, Undefeated Jordan IV, Nike Dunk SB Low Diamond Supply Co. “Tiffany,” all Supreme Nike SB Blazers and Dunks, Adidas Chanel Pharrell Hu NMD and hundreds more.

Leading up to ComplexCon Zen and Complex have co-produced “Sole Origins,” a four-part series celebrating the art, craft and influence of sneakers from the perspective of the luminaries behind the iconic shoes, including Jeff Staple, Nicky Diamonds, DJ Clark Kent, Nic Galway, Vashtie Kola, Hirofumi Kojima, and Dave Ortiz (designer of Air Max 90 DQM Bacon), and many more.
