We’ve just received a statement from the Geto Boys camp giving us an update on the Bushwick Bill situation. While Bill is fighting for his life, the group is making its plans for the final shows for The Geto Boys. Check out the statement below:
In late 2018, the legendary rap group Geto Boys began to discuss the possibility of reuniting for one final tour. Thirty years after their inception, the Geto Boys are still widely considered one of the greatest rap groups of all time. Consisting of Scarface, Bushwick Bill, and Willie D, these trailblazing Southern Pioneers were a catalyst in popularizing the Southern Hip-Hop movement, influencing generations to come.
But just as talks of a tour began to progress, the Hip-Hop icon and Geto Boys’ founding member Bushwick Bill was tragically diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Because of the seriousness of Bill’s prognosis, the Geto Boys have decided to do just a handful of shows at the end of this month in order for fans to be able to see the group together one last time. The short series of concerts entitled “The Beginning of a Long Goodbye” will be co-produced by the Adler Music Group, with a portion of proceeds going to support pancreatic cancer awareness.
The four shows scheduled below will be the first shows onsale, with a few more to be announced in the coming days. Please check www.getoboys.net or the individual members’s social media pages for updates. (@therealbushwickbill @williedlive @brothermob)
