Join in as Apple Music celebrates De La Soul and the much-anticipated streaming arrival of De La’s first six albums while signed to Tommy Boy Records. The albums will be exclusively available on Spatial Audio on Apple Music starting all day on Friday, March 3rd just weeks after losing group member David Jude Jolicoeur.
Adding to the emotions of the day, Ebro Darden’s 2018 interview with the group, originally planned for release prior to the tragic death of Dave “Trugoy The Dove” Jolicoeur this past February, will be broadcasted.
It provides insight into the many challenges they faced on their path to success, their unique sound and style, advice for A$AP Rocky, how Odd Future mirrors aspects of their own story, as well as reflections on their legacy. The full video and key quotes from the conversation will soon be shared.
De La Soul Day will include a two hour live broadcast anchored by Apple Music Radio’s Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden, Nadeska and Estelle discussing the group’s legacy with special guests such as B-Real from Cypress Hill, Yassin Bey (Mos Def), Ab-Soul, DJ Shadow, Damon Albarn of Blur/The Gorillaz, DJ Premier, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and DJ Pete Rock.
Concluding the day will be a 60 minute Live DJ Mix from Here To There Radio’s DJ Spinna featuring selections from De La Soul’s newly available catalog on Apple Music.
