(Memphis, TENNESSEE – January 27, 2022) – Recently fans of Memphis rapper Kenny Kane took to the online streets claiming 2Chainz, MoneyBagg Yo and BeatKing hijacked the rapidly rising rapper’s hit single “Dat Yo Potna” that is currently in heavy rotation in Memphis and other markets across the South.
Released in early September and featuring BeatKing himself, rapper Kenny Kane’s song was featured on a host of Hip-Hop websites online and was paired with Kenny Kane’s recent “BOP” movement which is an acronym for “Be On Point.”
The song in dispute, “Dats Yo Partner” ft BeatKing, followed up Kenny Kane’s successful songs with Lil Boosie (“Pop My Shit”) and Project Pat (“Pimpin”) and preceded his most recent effort He Got Game.
According to Kenny, his recent push for success is the culmination of years of challenges and sweat equity that got him to this point. In 2017 Kenny was released from prison after being a fugitive on the run for various charges he still denies committing to this day.
In posts on HipHopSince1987, AllHipHop.com and others Kenny had this to say about his song, “Dat’s Yo Potna,”Sh*t I’ve been doing music for at least 15 years and sh*t I even went to jail for five. When I got out I just got back to it, that got to be about ’17. I’ve just been pushing since, you know what I’m saying? Independent solo, out of my own pocket, no help from nobody.”
We posted the record back in September and we immediately saw the similarities. You be the judge yourself, but check out what Kenny’s fans have to say about it on Facebook.
