According to a recent research study published in the journal Musicae Scientia, “intros that averaged more than 20 seconds in the mid-80s are now only about 5 seconds long.” So basically users want to hear the verses to their average song start a little bit earlier. And while you may think that is a mere coincidence, ‘skippable’ music streaming services like Spotify and Pandora are said to have further shortened the listening time of a song. In short fans are getting more and more fickle and they want to be able to skip around to different songs at any given moment. How do you feel about it?
